Former student works for El Pais in Madrid

Marty Delfin

A former reporter and editor for The Ranger and The Fourth Write magazine, Martin G. Delfin produces the Latin American news pages for El País English edition and also specializes in national security issues and the US federal court system. 

A native of San Antonio and graduate of Jefferson High School, he previously worked for The San Juan Star in Puerto Rico and The Daily Journal in Caracas, Venezuela, and he has reported for AFP, an international news agency, and Voice of America. 

Delfin started at SAC in 1979 and graduated in 1981, eventually earning a journalism degree from the University of Texas.  Early in his journalism career, he worked at The Northside Recorder, The San Antonio Express-News and Radio Nacional de Venezuela. His weekly political column “Memo from Madrid” is published in The News of Málaga, Spain. He has lived in Madrid since 2005.
