SAC has a new mascot, or “spirit figure,” called the Gnome Ranger, and introduced it with a series of gags at the college's convocation for faculty and staff in which retiring President Robert Zeigler handed his presidential medallion to incoming President Robert Vela.
San Antonio College's Gnome Ranger, (left) introduced by incoming President Robert Vela, makes his first appearance in McAllister Auditorium following the annual fall Convocation in which retiring President Robert Zeigler handed off to incoming President Robert Vela. The Gnome Ranger will take its place among other Alamo Colleges mascots — Palo Alto College's Pal the Palomino, Northwest Vista College's Wildcat Willie, and Northeast Lakeview College's recently minted Nighthawk, whose costume is still in development.
