Former sports editor grows a sports empire

Michael De Leon
Michael De Leon began writing sports on The Ranger.

Since that invaluable experience as a reporter and editor at the college at a time when sports events were rare on the campus and reporters had to be creative and imaginative to find stories, he has developed a name for himself in journalism, sports and online media after founding a successful NBA blog, Project Spurs, in 2004.

Now, he has added another medium to his stable of sports sites as publisher and editor of TexasRedzoneReport.com.
Texas Redzone Report is the newest network site of the Project Spurs Network, which includes the flagship ProjecSpurs.com along with ATXSpurs.com, StarsHoops.net, RampageCentral.net and RedBlack90.com covering several professional sports teams from San Antonio to Austin.

De Leon writes on his newest endeavor: "The network is branching out to cover statewide high school football with Texas Redzone Report. Armed with the experience of managing several editorial teams for various publications, and with a staff featuring field reporters in areas around the state, Texas Redzone Report expects to reach the same goals of its fellow network sites in becoming a trusted source."

He adds: "Above and beyond anything else, we are diehard Texas high school football fans with a passion for the sport. Born and bred in Texas, we can’t get enough of Friday nights and we look forward to taking you along for the ride."

All sites within the Project Spurs Network are credentialed members of the media covering everything from the NBA Finals to NASL Soccer, and the network is considered a reliable media source and its sites are often cited on mainstream media sites like ESPN, Rotoworld, the BBC, Fox Sports Radio and more.
