Laura Garcia, a former editor of The Ranger and recipient of numerous internships since leaving the college, had a story in The Victoria Advocate that should make people aware of bad neighbors doing bad things. Garcia served internships at the Longview News-Journal, the Corpus Christi Caller-times and The Roanoke Times before moving to Victoria to begin her job at The Advocate, and this story sets a high bar for future coverage.While at the college, Garcia participated in the Society of Professional Journalists, and she was president and Outstanding Member of the SPJ chapter at Texas State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 2013.
