Former Ranger editor excels at Public Relations


Rudy Arispe has 23 years experience as a journalist and 13 years as a public relations strategist. He began his journalism career in 1986 as a staff writer for the now-defunct San Antonio Light, where he wrote news and feature stories as a general assignments reporter for Metro and Living Today sections.

Arispe studied journalism at San Antonio College, where he was editor of The Ranger, named Best College Weekly in Texas and Oklahoma by the Society of Professional Journalists during his tenure. He is a 1997 graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word with a bachelor’s degree in English.

From 1997-2007, he was a features writer for the S.A. Life section of the San Antonio Express-News. During his last two years at the daily, Arispe was a reporter for ConexĂ­on, a weekly Hispanic market publication of the Express-News, where he covered arts and entertainment.

For five years, Arispe was manager of media relations for United Way, the largest health and human services organization in San Antonio and Bexar County. He spearheaded publicity for all campaign and other events. He also served as senior writer and in-house photographer.
